The prestigious award is named after Murray, the internationally-known Australian magician and illusionist who received the first award in 1974. Previous recipients include Ken Brooke, Wayne Dobson, Paul Daniels, Ali Bongo, Geoffrey Durham and Jay Marshall. On receiving the Murray Award from Alan Coventry, President of the Blackpool Magicians Club, Jack reminisced on first seeing Murray at the age of 12 and later meeting him at the Blackpool convention where he received generous help and guidance in the early stages of his career.
